Job description

The role:

PropertyGuru is looking for a technically astute Finance Director (FD). This is a leadership position in the PropertyGuru group and reports directly to the group CFO. The Finance Director will not only be an exceptional accountant and hands-on with company finances, but will also be commercially aware, advising on the best path of growth for the business. The role will suit someone with proven management skills, positive energy and attitude to join the company in the high growth online sector.


The successful candidate will lead a team of finance managers located in Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and the financial shared service centre in Malaysia. He/she will oversee the day-to-day accounting activities, month end closing, statutory compliance (corporate, audit and tax), treasury activities, group consolidation as well as drive improvements and efficiencies in the finance processes. The FD will also manage the external relationships with all banking professionals, external auditors and tax professionals across the group.


This is a visible role in the organization, where he/she will be actively involved in the set-up of several initiatives as well as change management of others which are driving operational efficiency and business performance. This role will also be involved in projects such as mergers & acquisition and capital raise transactions.


Key Responsibilities

(1) Finance Management and Administration

  • Oversee the smooth and efficient running of the Finance Department, including constant review and improvement of the day-to-day accounting and month end closing processes
  • Review internal controls and establishing best practices to drive operational efficiency and business performance
  • Establish relationships with banking service providers and maintain adequate controls over access to cash
  • Continue development and maintain integrity of Accounting system (NetSuite)
  • In conjunction with System Administrator, coordinate and implement upgrades to NetSuite, providing necessary information / training to direct reports
  • Ensure that business cash flow adequately supports company work activities
  • Ensure all company assets are monitored and accurately accounted for
  • Further build, execute and maintain policies for financial controllership

(2) Regulation & Statutory Compliance

  • Establish strong working relationships with Audit Team and Tax Accountants to ensure optimal/efficient service is provided
  • Ensure compliance with statutory authority and audit requirements
  • Ensure all taxation and legislative requirements are complied with at all times
  • Ensure requisite information is supplied for the preparation of all company tax returns and such returns are reviewed by you and filed by external tax professionals
  • Ensure all indirect tax requirements/compliance is maintained, i.e., GST is filed quarterly in Singapore, VAT is filed monthly in Indonesia, etc., etc.
  • Ensure all audits are completed in a timely manner and all related Corporate Regulatory filings are made by their due dates
  • Ensure all Secretarial matters are managed appropriately

(3) People Management

  • Make self-available as coach/mentor in assisting direct reports to develop in their positions
  • Ensure that relevant information is communicated to direct reports enabling them to effectively carry out their functions
  • Delegate tasks to direct reports in line with skill, knowledge and ability and where necessary identify skill gaps and training requirements
  • As required, become involved in relevant personnel matters including recruitment, termination and counselling
  • Complete KPI assessment of direct reports within Company specified time frame
  • Ensure all reasonable steps are taken in order to achieve workplace harmony within the organisation at all times

Requirements

  • Degree qualified CPA/CA with a minimum of 8-10 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in Big 4 accounting firm and multi-national companies is preferred
  • Experience in mergers and acquisition transaction is preferred
  • Experience managing Finance teams comprised of multiple cultures
  • Experience in and/or natural interest in the Online Business is preferred
  • Ability to influence and partner with key stakeholders
  • Ability to adapt and comfortable with dealing with ambiguity
  • Problem solving abilities, attention to detail, strong work ethic
  • Proven track record of change management or ability to influence the business and drive changes
  • Self-motivated, ability to work independently, and be a good team player
